Who we are

Over the past 10 years, In Ovo has been developing and implementing our high-tech Ella machine, which can determine the gender of eggs. This prevents the culling of millions of chicks per machine and has a massive impact on animal welfare and efficiency, saves resources, and creates a more ethically acceptable egg production channel. With new legislation and interest from retailers coming up in multiple countries, we see more and more hatcheries requesting the In Ovo solution to support their business. We will grow considerably as a company, continue to improve our machines and will put many machines in the market, in order to end the culling of chicks completely. This way, we will make a significant, positive impact on animal welfare and sustainability in the global poultry sector over the coming years.

What you will do

As our automation engineer, you are part of the R&D team. Supported by our mechanical engineers, you are responsible for integration of third-party machines into our production line. By building automated robot solutions you will automate processes to ensure high quality standards are met and a stable production process is reached. In addition, you are in charge of commissioning the hardware on-site at our customers. Furthermore, you write and test new PLC programs, create technical drawings and schematics to document the work you have done. Next to the process automation of the production line, you’ll manage and/or support the preventive maintenance projects and organize the second line service and support for machines at the sites of our customers. When applicable, you’ll support colleagues, users, departments, and clients with your knowhow on the automation of processes and the maintenance process.

Who we are looking for

As Automation engineer; 

• You have a background in MBO/HBO/BSc preferably in computer science, mechanical, automation, electrical engineering, or a related field
• You have affinity and experience with industrial automation (PLC) and preferably also with hardware engineering for at least 3-5 years
• You are curious to understand the complex technical approach of In Ovo and quickly become familiar with new techniques
• You have a strong problem-solving ability and experience with using analysis tools for root cause analysis (Lean skills)
• You are open to new developments
• Your communication skills (in Dutch and English) are good and you can easily communicate with various levels within the organization.
• You are involved, stress-resistant, and able to act within a hectic environment
